Drums are really accessible and the workshop will be great fun, beginner friendly,  very creative - a fabulous connecting and interactive activity. Also on offer is hula hooping fun, juggling and giant bubbles all in the name of connection. Together, we can raise the vibration of our festival and have lots of fun doing it.

With over 10 years in the music industry business Ryan Bob and Amanda Jane came together to form Mississippi Boombox in 2015. They play a range of cover music in their own unique style - Ryan influenced by Country/ Rock background and Amanda by Blues/Gospel. The two fuse together to create great harmonies and rhythm.

In addition we hold some 200 UK mini quads plus a few foreign language posters. All the items are genuine and are covered by our no quibble money back guarantee. They cover all genres and periods from the 1950’s onwards. These posters hung in British, Irish and American cinemas before being collected by the galleries

11.00 a.m. - Exhibition of Antiquarian Maps of Ireland

We hold Ireland’s largest stocks of Antiquarian Maps and over 300 maps of Ireland dating from 1579 to 1899 will be on display. These are guaranteed genuine and original pieces and include works by John Speed, Abraham Ortelius, Jannsonnius, Johannes Blaeu, Petrus Bertius, Taylor & Skinner, D A Beaufort, Alain Mallet, Vincenzo Coronelli, Aristide Perrot, Alfred Adlard, Captain Greenville Collins and Sir William Petty  amongst others. We also carry maps of the original 5 Provinces, Connaught, Leinster, Munster, Ulster and Media, maps of each of the 32 counties and items of more local interest. Our workshops frame maps to international museum standards, to British and Irish conservation standards and to basic standards according to collectors’ requirements.

2.00pm Dance Display Featuring The Innova Irish Dance Company

Innova 2017Since taking part in Britain's Got Talent, local dance group Innova have become a very popular UK, Ireland and International act. Including  performances at the Belfast Tattoo 2016 and more recently at the Glasgow Tattoo 2017. 2016 also took them to Romania, Egypt and South Korea. Many of the Innova Dancers have also picked up many medal and cups at various Irish Dancing competitions.

2.00pm Cafe Music Session - Frankie Sewell

Songwriter and guitarist Frankie Sewell has been playing music on and off for 30 years, as a solo artist and in both original and covers bands. He is a former member of The Turtlenecks / Soup-Kitchen Paupers (Belfast, 1980s) and toured France and Belgium with Belfast band Tomorrow Was (1990s). In Portstewart (late 1990s to 2000s), he played in Greengrass, The Groove Robbers, and Frankie and Johnny (with local guitar legend ‘wee Doc’). Solo, he has supported acts including The Dead Heroes Club (Playhouse Theatre) and Brian Houston (Cromore Halt). Frankie's songwriting style has matured from ‘indie-punk-pop’ (Hot Press, 1990s) to acoustic indie-folk. He was runner up in the 2016 Red Sails Songwriting Competition.

Leanne RadixLovers rock Reggae from band based in Glasgow and formed by several members of the IFoundation, who performed at the Red Sails Festival in 2012. The bands songwriter and music producer Kyle Robertson began his reggae career back in the late 80’s supporting acts like Steel Pulse, Aswad, Misty in Roots ,Yellowman, Jimmy Cliff and all the best artists of the genre while building his production and writing skills. Kyle has recently worked with Reggae Legends like Sonia Ferguson, Paul Dawkins and Susan Cadogan.

A free to enter competition for musicians/singers/bands/solo artists. No Age restriction.

Only Acoustic Guitars/Keyboards That Plug Into Di Box allowed. No drum kits-but alternative percussion instruments allowed

Entrants will judged on quality of singing, musicianship, performance and originality. Three songs required-at least one original would be beneficial.  Lyrics/performance must be suitable for performance in an all ages location.

This is an opportunity for all participants to perform at the Bandstand in the heart of the town. First Prize- £200 ,Second Prize- a £40 voucher from The Music Room Coleraine, a Trophy to keep. Plus named on the Red Sails Stephenson Family perpetual Trophy.

There are two age categories 5-10 years and 11-16 years and there are prizes for the first three in each section. Dancers will need to provide a cd or pen drive with their dance music. Dance performance will be at the concrete area beside the bandstand and dance routines must be suitably safe to perform in this area.

3.00pm Cafe Music Session - Frankie Sewell

Songwriter and guitarist Frankie Sewell has been playing music on and off for 30 years, as a solo artist and in both original and covers bands. He is a former member of The Turtlenecks / Soup-Kitchen Paupers (Belfast, 1980s) and toured France and Belgium with Belfast band Tomorrow Was (1990s). In Portstewart (late 1990s to 2000s), he played in Greengrass, The Groove Robbers, and Frankie and Johnny (with local guitar legend ‘wee Doc’). Solo, he has supported acts including The Dead Heroes Club (Playhouse Theatre) and Brian Houston (Cromore Halt). Frankie's songwriting style has matured from ‘indie-punk-pop’ (Hot Press, 1990s) to acoustic indie-folk. He was runner up in the 2016 Red Sails Songwriting Competition.

Join AWARE  for their Portstewart Mood Walk on Friday 28th July 2017. Anyone can take part and you can choose to walk either 5k or 10k, which will take place along the coastal path and Portstewart strand.

It's a fun way to raise money for AWARE - the National Depression Charity for Northern Ireland. All money raised is put directly back into the services of AWARE and helping to support and educate

people on the illness of depression and bipolar disorder in Northern Ireland.

The Royal Blue Masonic Lodge Portstewart No. 404 are holding an inaugural Open Day on Saturday 29th July 2pm – 4pm at the Masonic Hall 2, Church Street, Portstewart. The Lodge invites members of the local community and all visitors to come and meet the Worshipful Master and other Masonic members, view the interior of the Hall and discover more about Freemasonry – its history, purpose, membership and charitable works. Prior to becoming a Masonic Hall in 1966, the building was Agherton Parish School. When the school closed in 1947 the building was used by Agherton Parish Sunday School. The first meeting of the Lodge took place in May 1966.

Members of the local community and all visitors can be assured of a warm welcome whether it be to discover more about Freemasonry or recapture old memories of the building.

Directions walking: Take the exit on the Promenade at Morelli Steps. At the top of the steps go straight across the road to the Masonic Hall opposite the Methodist Church.

VLDDVICTORIA LAGAN DANCE AND DRAMA is the only professional purpose made dance studio in the north coast area. VLDD train dancers and actors to the highest standard of LAMDA Acting, ballet, contemporary, acrobatics, jazz, hip hop and lyrical.

VLDD dancers currently hold Northern Ireland championship titles in contemporary and jazz. VLDD have placed 3rd in UK title competition last November in Bristol, they will be attending again this year.

Victoria Lagan is currently the ONLY qualified "National Association of Teachers of Dance" in contemporary in the whole of Northern Ireland and the VLDD dancers are the first in Northern Ireland to complete their NATD contemporary examinations.

VLDD train all year long so they can do so many competitions, performances, exams and of course their annual performance at the amazing red sails festival!
